Reports To: Program Director Supervision: None Salary: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience) Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or a related field
    OR Associate's Degree with equivalent work experience

  • Experience working with students with challenging emotional or behavioral needs

  • Experience supporting at-risk students with academic, social, and behavioral concerns

Preferred:

  • Extensive experience working with students receiving Special Education Services

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the building supervisor, the Behavior Resource Specialist enhances instruction provided by teachers, case managers, and related service staff. The specialist supports students by implementing behavior plans, collecting data, and providing guided practice aligned with Behavior Support Plans and IEP goals.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff

  • Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation strategies

  • Understanding of developmental and psychological links to student behavior

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Patience, persistence, and emotional control in high-stress situations

  • Ability to observe, chart, and accurately describe student behaviors

  • Commitment to fostering independence, confidence, and self-regulation skills in students

  • Collaborative approach to teamwork and school-wide support

Essential Duties
  • Provide positive behavioral and emotional interventions in the behavior resource room

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement individualized student behavior plans

  • Re-teach social and emotional skills in individual or group settings

  • Support parent communication and provide family education on behavior supports

  • Collaborate with staff and administration to promote proactive school-wide behavior strategies

  • Conduct classroom observations and collect behavior data

  • Assist instructional staff in classrooms to meet student needs

  • Serve as a member of the site MTSS team

  • Collect, report, and summarize behavioral data

  • Perform other related duties as assigned
