Oversees the day-to-day and long-term operations and staff within a defined area(s) of a FedEx FedEx (FedEx) facility.Supports the FedEx Safety Above All Culture.Responsible for ensuring training and engagement are executed effectively regarding safe and efficient package sortation operations through the management of Operations Managers, Operations Training Managers and Operations Safety Specialists.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as a champion for FedEx's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives. Fosters a safety-conscious culture by serving as an advocate for safety compliance and safety initiatives.
  • Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity.
  • Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls the day-to-day operations of their facility area.
  • Responsible for managing the training and engagement assignments of employees (primarily Operations Managers, Operations Safety Specialists and Operations Training Managers) to ensure understanding of operational processes.
  • Coaches Ops Managers. Operations Safety Specialist and Operations Training Managers, providing feedback on communication style and delivery as well as overall engagement with new hires. Ensures Orange Armband Program is properly administered and followed.
  • Overall responsibility for new hire training and programing, including the Orange Armband Program. Coaches Ops Managers and Operations Training Managers on engagement, communication, training delivery and style to ensure consistent training of new package handlers and other employees.
  • Ensures that operational updates and concerns are communicated properly to Ops Managers and Operations Training Managers and applied consistently throughout the facility.
  • Assists with counseling Sort Mangers regarding new hire placement depending on specific sort needs. Elevates and recommends solutions to concerns raised by new hires.
  • Collaborates with the Equity, Inclusion and Engagement Department to implement employee engagement and retention strategies for the facility.
  • Ensures compliance with all FedEx policies/procedures and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Oversees the Operations Safety Specialists in the development of and responsible for administering company safety strategies and programs.
  • Coverage of Area Manager duties, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience

  • Eighteen (18) months experience as an Ops Supervisor at FedEx or two (2) years previous management, operational leadership or project/team leader experience required. Two (2) years of military leadership experience also accepted.

  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with various audiences and ability to effectively provide employees instruction on process and practice.
  • Ability to read, interpret and draw conclusions from numerical data and written information.
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Ability to maintain a working knowledge of relevant technology-based projects, including various devices and computer-based applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pay Transparency: $56,722 - $80,073
