STV's Transportation Team is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineering Specialist to join our Fairfax, VA office. Are you ready to begin your career working on innovative traffic engineering projects that shape the future of transportation? STV is seeking a passionate and driven Traffic Engineer to support our Virginia operation. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, learn from experienced engineers, and collaborate with State DOTs, local governments, and private sector clients.

Responsibilities:

As a Traffic Engineering Specialist, you will:

  • Support the design and development of construction staging, traffic signals, lighting, signing & pavement markings, and MOT design plans.

  • Assist with professional design services for transportation improvement projects for VDOT, DDOT, and other agencies.

  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget.

  • Help prepare specifications, cost estimates, reports, and bid packages.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, technical staff, and project managers.

  • Learn and apply engineering standards, applicable codes, and quality assurance practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Experience: 0 years required; relevant internships, co-ops, or coursework in traffic/transportation engineering are a plus.

  • Licenses/Certifications: Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred; intent to pursue PE in Virginia encouraged.

Technical Skills (Preferred, not required):

  • Familiarity with CAD tools (MicroStation, AutoCAD, AutoTURN, GuideSIGN).

  • Exposure to lighting design software (Agi32).

  • Basic knowledge of traffic analysis software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, CORSIM, SIDRA).

  • Understanding of AASHTO standards and tools like Power BI, Tableau, or ESRI ArcGIS is a plus.

Compensation Range:

$71,024.64 - $94,699.51
