STV currently has an opening in our Jacksonville, FL office for a Senior Freight Rail Group Leader in our Transportation division.The successful candidate will leverage our extensive local expertise and qualifications to grow our Freight Rail practice in the region. The candidate will be able to function as a Project Manager while developing other rail project civil/track designers and be responsible for scope development and management of studies, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of rail infrastructure projects, including conceptual, preliminary, and final designs involving freight rail improvements for assigned capital projects.Candidate will work closely with a multi-discipline A&E team to manage major activities and allocate resources. Candidate will assist with business development and client engagement activities for the full suite of STV services.

Freight Rail Design Lead and Senior Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical marketing and proposal pursuit assistance to procure key projects.
  • Develop project scopes, fees, and schedules for design contracts.
  • Meet with freight rail clients to identify rail project opportunities.
  • Increase STV rail profile in the industry by participating in client activities and national associations such as AREMA.
  • Lead client coordination and manage design-team forRail Projects; manage the assembly of plans, specifications and construction estimate packages
  • Manage budgets, schedules, quality of assigned projects.
  • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity
  • Be able to plan, organize and supervise work of professionals and technicians, as well as develop and mentor staff

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of ten (10) years of satisfactory, full-time related experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in railway engineering including track design and project management.
  • FL PE License or licensed in another state.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team on railway projects.

Desired Skills:

  • Significant experience in project management for capital projects of varying magnitude and scope, including at least 8 years of engineering, design, and construction project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing projects in an active railroad environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Rail design standards.
  • Familiarity with freight rail operations and facilities.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
