Job Overview

  • Supervise and train hourly employees
  • Develop and implement departmental budgets, work schedules and staffing requirements that fully support the facility profit plan
  • Maintain a positive human resource climate through the use of pro-active communication programs and teambuilding exercises
  • Manage the department in a manner that achieves maximum quality and meets expected standards of productivity and efficiency
  • Develop and implement departmental safety and operational excellence programs that support regional and/or company guidelines
  • Comply with all State regulations concerning safety and environmental

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain departmental equipment in a manner that ensures longevity and maximum use
  • Maintaining payroll system for time and attendance
  • Work with Engineering on specifications and sale order modifications
  • Identifying parts shortages and working with suppliers to meet on-time delivery
  • Monitoring production and quality of work to meet customer demands
  • Assessing new employees and insuring training is conducted to meet skill level requirements
  • Monitoring departmental budgets and spending to maintain at or below level
  • Tracking all safety issues within the department and insuring corrective actions are timely
  • Coaching and counseling with employees are required

Qualifications/Requirements

  • The incumbent must possess a broad knowledge of rebuild operations
  • An in-depth familiarity with department-specific processes is necessary as well as the ability to work from prints and detail drawings
  • Financial acumen is necessary in order to develop and implement departmental budgets
  • The incumbent must have at least 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment to be successful
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and have proficient computer skills
  • Must have history with root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Degree in management or business discipline desirable but not required
