Outreach Services Educator

Job Description

Develops numerous strategies for education and counseling for the community. Facilitates these settings, focusing on health promotion and prevention. Provides direct health education to students, school professionals and parents k-12 across the metropolitan catchment area; Assists in the facilitation of youth leadership programming; Coordinates on creation of curriculum.

Job Responsibility

• Coordinates and implements programs that will result in close community identification for the system and the hospitals.
• Plans and implements programs including, but not limited to: fairs, seminars, training programs, conferences, workshops and public forums.
• Identifies and formulates areas for program development; addresses community, civic, business and service organizations; represents the hospital in community activities.
• Plans, develops and designs program brochures, newsletters and displays; prepares lectures, flyers, etc. necessary for outreach and education.
• Maintains policy and procedures that meet the needs of the system and the department.
• Initiates development of public relations tools to heighten community awareness of the hospitals.
• Coordinates and implements the community wellness programs.
• Identifies funding sources, initiates and participates in grant writing and fund raising opportunities.
• Coordinates with staff from linking agencies, bringing issues to and from education program; keeps staff apprised of relevant information.
• Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.

Job Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
• Ability to travel through out the 5 boroughs and Westchester, as needed.
