Spectra Tech is looking for a Production Team lead in Janesville, WI.
Job Description: The Production Team Lead is responsible for the daily supervision of a production line or team within the food manufacturing facility. The role involves guiding and training staff, monitoring production metrics, ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards, and actively participating in process improvement initiatives. This position is an on-the-floor leadership role, supporting the Production Supervisor and acting as a primary point of contact for the team. Essential duties and responsibilities * Production Oversight: Supervise the daily execution of production schedules to ensure output meets or exceeds manufacturing standards, yields, and efficiencies. * Team Leadership: Assign daily tasks, monitor staff performance, and provide training, coaching, and motivation to a diverse team of employees. * Quality Assurance: Monitor the production process to ensure all products meet customer specifications and company quality standards. This includes verifying standard weights, proper coding, and other product specifications. * Safety and Sanitation: Uphold strict adherence to all safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and sanitation standards. Conduct regular inspections to ensure a safe and clean working environment. * Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational issues and equipment problems on the production line in a timely manner to minimize downtime. * Continuous Improvement: Support and participate in initiatives aimed at improving processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing waste. Offer suggestions and ideas for enhancement. * Reporting and Documentation: Complete accurate production and maintenance reports, ensuring all required documentation is finalized according to company policy. * Communication: Effectively communicate production goals, results, and expectations to team members and keep the Production Supervisor informed of all situations and performance deviations. * Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management, including tracking materials and finished products. Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Additional vocational or college coursework is often preferred. Experience Level: * Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with some demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience. * Knowledge: Strong knowledge of food safety concepts, such as HACCP and GMPs. Familiarity with SAP or similar systems may be required. * Skills: Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to direct and train team members effectively. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team toward shared goals. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Math Skills: Basic math proficiency for tasks such as calculating weights and production metrics. Bilingual: Bilingual in Spanish and English is often a plus in many food manufacturing environments. |
