Job Description: The maintenance manager oversees all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production. This leadership role combines technical expertise with management skills to drive reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with strict food safety regulations. Key responsibilities Maintenance operations
Team leadership
- Supervise and schedule staff: Manage and schedule maintenance associates across multiple shifts to ensure continuous coverage and support for production needs.
- Recruit and develop staff: Hire, train, and mentor maintenance personnel, fostering a high-performing team and creating development plans for succession.
- Promote safety: Lead safety in the department, ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures, such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
Compliance and quality
- Ensure regulatory compliance: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and health regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, and FSMA.
- Maintain food safety standards: Work with the sanitation and quality assurance (QA) teams to ensure all equipment is maintained and repaired to prevent contamination and uphold food safety standards.
- Participate in audits: Take part in internal and external audits by regulatory agencies and third-party inspectors to review food production compliance.
Budget and contractor management
- Track and manage budgets: Work with the finance department to develop, manage, and track the annual maintenance and capital expenditures budget.
Manage vendors: Interface with third-party vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and capital equipment installations. A bachelor's degree in a technical field like engineering, operations, or a related discipline is preferred; a high school diploma or GED with experience is required. - Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2-5 years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience in food manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Technical knowledge: Expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of PLCs, automation, and industrial electrical power is crucial.
- CMMS proficiency: Strong experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as SAP, for managing maintenance activities.
- Interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, leadership, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Mogul Machine experience highly desired.
- 1st Shift - must be flexible for overseeing all shifts.
