Essential Job Duties |
The
Department of Chemistry at NC State University (Raleigh, NC) and the
Integrative Sciences Initiative invites applications for a
tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor rank) in the area of
Analytical Chemistry and Measurement Science.
While all areas of measurement science and analytical chemistry will be considered,
we especially encourage applications in measurement science from candidates with research interests in the
areas of (bio)analytical chemistry and instrument development that can leverage chemometrics and/or the application of data science techniques (such as machine learning or artificial intelligence). A successful candidate will leverage the available instrumentation in our
Molecular Education, Technology and Research Innovation Center (METRIC) instrumentation facility, their research program will align closely with the strategic priorities of the
College of Sciences and the
Integrative Sciences Initiative, and/or show a strong potential to integrate into other University-level programs, such as the Data Science and AI Academy, Plant Sciences Initiative, Genetics and Genomics Academy, and Bioinformatics Research Center. This position is strategically positioned to establish crucial interdepartmental connections and leverage measurement science's unique capacity to translate complex molecular observations into actionable data.
Successful candidates are expected to establish a nationally and internationally recognized research program and to demonstrate strong interests and abilities in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Chemistry. Candidates are also expected to provide service to the Department, University, and wider professional community as a committee member, referee, advisor, officer, or representative. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Candidates must possess a PhD and post-doctoral experience in Chemistry to be considered for this position.

- Successful candidates must have a strong commitment to academic and research excellence, and an outstanding research record commensurate with the expectations of a major research university.
