Job Summary

The Senior Staff Engineer, Test Development is a highly experienced professional responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of automated test equipment and software for both design verification and production testing of advanced Power Management ICs, including Boost, Buck, and Charge Pump products. This role requires deep expertise in electronic circuit design and full test automation, with a focus on probe and final test development for complex PMICs.

Operating with minimal oversight, this position will collaborate closely with Design and Characterization Engineers throughout all phases of IC development. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and supporting production test procedures and equipment both on-site and internationally, as well as evaluating, calibrating, and maintaining PMIC test systems.

This position demands strong initiative, excellent organizational skills, thorough documentation practices, and sound judgment in troubleshooting and evaluating engineering and production silicon. The ideal candidate brings broad technical expertise or specialized knowledge in power systems, enabling innovative problem-solving and strategic guidance across cross-functional teams and initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:



  • Leverage deep technical expertise to collaborate with Design & Characterization engineers throughout the development lifecycle of Power Management ICs, influencing design decisions and ensuring testability.
  • Serve as the central authority on test strategy, guiding products from initial development through to volume production with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and quality.
  • Define and architect comprehensive test and validation plans, applying advanced analytical judgment to optimize test coverage, minimize test time, and align with product performance goals.
  • Design and implement sophisticated ATE test software, applying unique methodologies and techniques to meet complex testing requirements.
  • Develop, debug, and document advanced test software and hardware solutions for ATE systems, ensuring robustness and long-term maintainability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for new designs, providing strategic recommendations that influence product development and reliability.
  • Interpret and synthesize test and characterization data, identifying patterns and anomalies that inform design improvements and yield optimization.
  • Drive automation and integration of test equipment, applying innovative approaches to enhance verification processes and operational efficiency.
  • Author and maintain high-quality test documentation, including specifications, instructions, and verification plans, ensuring clarity and alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct test program optimization and robustness evaluations, applying independent judgment to refine methodologies and improve test resilience.
  • Coordinate with external partners and sub-contractors, ensuring seamless implementation and support of production testing aligned with internal standards.
  • Manage time and resources autonomously, prioritizing tasks to meet critical milestones and quality benchmarks.
  • Analyze reliability study results, drawing insights that contribute to long-term product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Represent the Test function in interdisciplinary teams, contributing unique perspectives and driving alignment between engineering, manufacturing, and quality objectives.



Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)



  • 8 - 12 years related experience in test development for PMIC products
  • Advanced knowledge of analog and digital circuits and testing concepts
  • Advanced knowledge of Boost, Buck and Charge Pump circuit operation and testing principles
  • ATE Test Hardware and Software Development experience
  • Knowledge of data analysis and statistical data analysis techniques
  • Experience in Test Software development using C/C++
  • Proficient in schematic capture, and PCB design experience for test fixtures.
  • Experience with lab test equipment including SMU's DMM's, power supplies, and Oscilloscopes
  • Demonstrated ability to solve PMIC debug and measurement challenges
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced product development environment



Preferred Qualifications



  • Teradyne ETS364 Test Development experience
  • Production test program and hardware development experience
  • Characterization test program and hardware development experience
  • Strong understanding of the IC product development process
  • Familiarity with I2C and PMBUS interfaces
  • Experience working with Sub-Contract manufacturers
  • Proficiency in software tools such Galaxy, C++, Visual Studio, Eagle RAIDE
  • Strong desire to support product development team's NPI roadmap
  • An attitude of continuous personal and professional development



Education Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred



Work Environment

This job operates in a professional laboratory R&D environment. This role routinely uses standard and specialized lab equipment to evaluate and test Boost, Buck and Charge Pump circuit performance.
