Position Overview

The Lead Advocacy and Alliances Manager is a leadership role on the Medical Affairs Advocacy and Alliance Relations (AAR) team with a special focus on advancing relationships with medical specialty and subspecialty societies. The Lead Advocacy and Alliances Manager will lead efforts to engage key professional organizations, keep them informed of the growing evidence base as it relates to cancer screening, while leveraging the partnerships to advance mutual goals, such as developing and implementing tailored collaborations that support shared objectives. Additionally, the Lead Advocacy and Alliances Manager will collaborate with cross-functional internal stakeholders to include the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Government Affairs, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Impact, Precision Oncology, Compliance/Legal and Pipeline, to develop and implement partnership strategies in a way that meets the needs of and connects opportunities across the larger organization, while strategically positioning Exact Sciences.

This is a dynamic and highly visible role focused on enabling successful partnerships. The Lead Advocacy and Alliances Manager plays a key role in supporting the development and execution of collaborative initiatives-helping bring ideas to life through coordination, communication, and day-to-day management. This individual ensures internal and external stakeholders are informed and aligned, while providing consistent oversight to keep efforts on track and moving forward.

This is a hybrid role based in either Madison, WI or Washington, DC.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as a trusted representative of Exact Sciences and its mission to advance earlier cancer detection, treatment guidance, and monitoring. Work with leadership to build plans for key organization engagement to advance organizational goals.
  • Work through the public health landscape to engage key organizations to develop and implement collaborations that advance shared goals.
  • Develop strategic and creative plans to promote research and publications to fully inform key stakeholders about the strength and rigor of Exact Sciences' science and superior processes.
  • Build relationships with key organizations and leverage coalitions of stakeholders to advance shared goals and remove barriers to screening.
  • Build relationships and assist in the development of organizational and key opinion leaders as potential speakers and collaborators for Exact Sciences.
  • Identify national/regional events related to Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) and screening advocacy, such as public health and professional society events, and strategically position Exact Sciences' participation.
  • Leverage advocacy and alliance partnerships to inform Exact Sciences research, product development, scientific presentation, and understanding of the screening landscape.
  • Identify intelligence and insights provided by key organizations that are relevant to the business and disseminate internally, as appropriate.
  • Oversee implementation of grant-funded programs and lead external communication efforts to ensure effective engagement with stakeholders.
  • Provide day-to-day project management of key internal core groups and working groups.
  • Serve on internal working groups related to emerging evidence and disseminate to AAR team when relevant.
  • Conduct engagement in strategic alignment with the Precision Oncology Advocacy team, particularly with respect to shared relationships.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, as well as effective formal presentation skills.

  • Ability to frequently and accurately communicate with employees, customers, etc. face-to-face, viatelephone, or by email.
  • Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location; may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, life sciences, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant life sciences, public affairs, health care industry or public health experience and proven track record of success in developing and executing collaborations.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of U.S. health care system functioning and intricacies.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage external partners and engage with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage with professionals in health care or another highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated project management proficiency.
  • Proficient in a cross-section of office software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in health care industry or public health, notably with a focus on cancer detection and/or oncology.
  • Experience working with and/or for advocacy groups and professional societies.
  • Experience with grant management.

Salary Range:

$147,000.00 - $250,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
