Join Our Team as an Associate Lab Engineer at Epiroc!

The Associate Engineers work on complex problems in a multi-disciplined team environment resulting in the introduction of new and improved tools and accessories. The scope of work is from initial test development to final report writing. Test Engineers work under general supervision of the Product Engineering team and closely with Project Engineers, Quality Engineers, Safety Committee members, outside testing facilities and other personnel to prepare overall test programs to meet their product and prototype testing needs.

Work Type (Onsite): This position will be based onsite at our Milwaukie, OR facility. This job opening is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship

Responsibilities:



  • Develop and Maintain a Schedule of Tests and support functions from the test lab.
  • Conceptualize, engineer and build test fixtures and equipment using a variety of fabrication equipment and outside resources.
  • Provide meaningful and accurate data to the engineering team.
  • Ensure that all equipment is operational and capable of testing the performance of prototypes, new and existing products or components.
  • Write clear and detailed test procedures.
  • Write test reports that clearly communicate test findings.
  • Lead the effort to create a clean, organized and safe test lab environment.


Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $70,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our commitment to fair pay based on skills, experience, and market standards.

Knowledge/Education:



  • BSME or BSEE preferred
  • Minimum of 6 months experience with product testing and basic machining capabilities preferred.
  • Provide technical support to various departments when part/tool issues arise.
  • Manage test requests, timelines, supplies, and ensure lab equipment is calibrated and operational.
  • Read and create detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models (Pro-E preferred), assist in drafting test procedures, and build test fixtures.
  • Execute, automate, and monitor tests using manual and programmable instruments, including data acquisition software and hardware.
  • Participate in manufacturing and field trials, conduct verification and validation tests on products and components.
  • Analyze and interpret test data using statistical methods; prepare, publish, and maintain controlled test reports with clear pass/fail criteria.



Skills and Abilities:



  • Being Hands-on with fabrication equipment such as lathes, milling machines, metal forming, welding and use of standard hand tools.
  • Creating detailed written instructions based on general input from engineering.
  • Communicate effectively within the team and proactively update customers on lab work status.
  • Collaborate with remote engineers, stakeholders, manufacturing, and suppliers to support technical activities and develop product requirements.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods and document findings thoroughly.
  • Maintain organized engineering storage, lab cleanliness, and manage technical information libraries.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools and adhere to established organizational processes.
