What We Are Looking For

TSU is seeking a General Foreman to lead, organize, and manage daily vegetation management and tree trimming operations across multiple project sites. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing several crews, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality across all job sites within the client's Right-of-Way (ROW) and critical infrastructure.

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and serves as the central connection between field operations and senior management. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in utility vegetation management, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety and performance.

Success in the first 12 months will include developing cohesive, high-performing crews, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and ensuring project schedules and budgets are met consistently.

  • Manage crew production schedules to ensure all time, quality, and budget targets are achieved.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations to crew leaders and field personnel.
  • Maintain qualifications and certifications to work within the minimum approach distance of energized electrical lines.
  • Conduct risk and hazard assessments and implement mitigation procedures.
  • Resolve conflicts among personnel, vendors, and customers while maintaining professionalism.
  • Train and instruct crews in proper utility tree work and vegetation management methods.
  • Safely operate and supervise the use of saws, lifts, chippers, trucks, and related equipment.

  • Draft, compile, and complete project documentation, forms, and reports in digital and physical formats.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CAL OSHA, and ANSI Z133 safety standards and all company policies.
  • Communicate regularly with Senior Management and Human Resources regarding staffing, performance, and compliance.

  • Foster a positive, safety-first culture through example, training, and accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in utility line clearance or Right-of-Way (ROW) vegetation management operations.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multiple field crews.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial Driver License (Class A or B).
  • ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Utility Arborist, or Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP).
  • Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC).
  • Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ).
