LIMS Specialist

Location: Onsite, Allentown, PA

Pay: Up to $45 an hour

Shift: 8 am to 5 pm

Job Type: Long Term Contract

Overview:

This is a newly created role to support the implementation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), specifically Labware. The business previously operated without a LIMS, and this position will provide critical, on-the-ground support during the rollout. The project is expected to take most of 2025. The initial contract will be set for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. Long-term or conversion opportunities may be considered but are not guaranteed.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Serve as the primary onsite resource supporting the implementation of Labware LIMS for Chemistry and Microbiology teams.
  • Configure LIMS settings, user access levels, and data structures to align with laboratory workflows.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Ensure accurate data entry, validation, and data integrity within the system.
  • Implement data quality checks, reporting mechanisms, and develop custom dashboards and reports.
  • Support integration of LIMS with laboratory instruments and other systems.
  • Analyze laboratory processes, design efficient workflows, and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Train laboratory staff on LIMS functionality and best practices, building user proficiency.
  • Act as a liaison between laboratory teams and the global LIMS implementation team.
  • Assist in drafting and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide ongoing technical support, answer user questions, and ensure regulatory compliance (FDA, GLP, GMP).
  • Perform additional lab-related activities as assigned, which may include:
  • Environmental monitoring, sampling, sterility testing, aseptic technique qualifications, and process validations.
  • Verification, documentation, and filing of test reports and batch records.
  • Submitting samples for chemical assays and microbial testing.
  • Supporting audits and preparing monthly/quarterly reports.



Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant laboratory or LIMS experience.
  • Strong background in chemistry or microbiology highly preferred.
  • Direct Labware experience strongly preferred; Certified Labware Administrator credential ideal.
  • Previous LIMS-specific experience (training, implementation, SME role) required. Candidates with a mix of LIMS user experience and strong project/implementation management will also be considered.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Extensive knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory methods, applications, instrumentation, and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FDA, GLP, GMP).
  • Proficiency with computer software and system configuration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and consultative skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide hands-on training and technical support to laboratory staff.
