Quality Control Inspection Technician

Position Type: Contract

Position Location: Houston, TX

Position Pay: $23/HR - $24/HR

Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for performing visual and precision instrument inspection of manufactured parts for dimensional and GD&T.
  • Specialized inspections using CMM, Portable arm, Portable Scanner, for compliance with drawing requirements.
  • Interact with multiple internal departments including Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Accounting, and Shipping/Receiving. You may also work with external contractors.
  • Daily workflow is assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor and/or based on project demands.
  • Performs visual and dimensional inspection on products, inspect packaging and packing of components and valves in compliance with approved procedures and instructions.
  • Performs non-destructive examinations and/or similar examinations, removes indications found during non-destructive examinations and maintains proper records in compliance with approved procedures and instructions.
  • Preparing a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for any part that does not meet specified requirements and processing it per established procedures.
  • Document nonconformances in SAP- NCR module where needed and complete the transactions in SAP.
  • Managing documentation flow including recorded heat numbers and vendor certifications.
  • Witnessing internal testing procedures to verify accuracy of results.
  • Interpreting and executing an Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
  • Interfacing with third-party inspectors to verify completion of required customer requests.
  • Handing other assigned work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by your immediate supervisor.


Requirements:



  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent; Higher education is a plus
  • 5 years of inspection experience in manufacturing environment.(Valve industry is a plus)
  • Certification in Magnetic Particle and/or Liquid Penetrant Testing preferred.
  • Experienced with selection and use of all traditional inspection/testing tools like Callipers, Micrometres, bore gauges, plug gauges, profile checks hardness checks, PMI, etc to measure 2 dimensional details as listed on drawings.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings.
  • Capable of reviewing Documents/ MTRs for ASTM/ASME material grades.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, test equipment and procedures, and assembly applications.
  • Know how to usse hand and power tools.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
