Position Summary

Under direction from the WorkAbility III Counselor/Coordinator, the Education Liaison connects with Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) clients who are students with disabilities attending a campus within Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) and are enrolled in a Career Technical Education (CTE) or other approved program.
Pay Range Additional Information: $28.00 per hour for 1 year of related work experience; $29.50 per hour for 2 years of related work experience; $32.00 per hour for 3-5 year of related work experience.

Typical Duties

Refer DOR clients/students to Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) counselors for evaluation of units and ISEPS, as needed. Provide case management support by working with students to develop job seeking skills including career exploration, career search, creating an employee portfolio and developing the skills needed to obtain and retain gainful employment. When students are job placement ready, refer students to the WorkAbility III Counselor/Coordinator for assessment, job development and placement. Collaborate with the WorkAbility III Counselor/Coordinator and Student Personnel Assistant, DOR counselor, DSPS counselor, and other college and employment entities in a supportive case management approach to DOR and college goal completion. Maintain student progress reports and perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience in career planning, job development/placement or student personnel services preferably in an educational or community college setting; OR one year experience in employment development at a community-based organization. Experience working with students or adults with disabilities preferred.
EDUCATION: Completion of an associate's degree or 60 semester units (90 quarter units).
Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: One year of education is equal to 30 semester units.)
Education must be from an accredited institution.
