Summary

The Sr. Network Engineer participates in all aspects of design, analysis, implementation and support of network platforms, software or other solutions to ensure the enterprise network complies with company and user requirements. Additionally, this individual will work with the management team to identify gaps in knowledge/experience within the team to ensure optimal network operations in support of business continuity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for architecture design, security, integration and management of network systems

  • Provide ongoing daily support and optimization of enterprise data network systems

  • Proficiency in multivendor networking environments in configuration of SD-WAN, firewalls, IPS/IDS systems, VPN, Routers, Wireless, and Switches (Cisco, Arista, Aruba, etc.)

  • Proactively identify needs for improvements, capacity changes and upgrades. Plan and implement upgrades and patches

  • Maintain proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications

  • Collaborate with IT team, IT management, and Business Unit leaders to define and manage the IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for enterprise platforms and systems

  • Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve faults in the operational network for ongoing day-to-day activities and serve as an escalation SME during outages

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve faults in the enterprise network for day-to-day activities and serve as an escalation point during enterprise outages

  • Support network compliance and risk management activities

  • Proactively collect, analyze, and report on network health and other statistics

  • Evaluates and recommend new and emerging technologies in the networking domain

  • Collaborate with IT management and IT purchasing team in support of negotiation and management of carrier services, software, and hardware maintenance contracts

  • Work with IT team and IT management to evaluate and plan for hardware/software replacement and growth

  • Serve as a technical lead/mentor for junior network engineers as part of team-based activities

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation within IT networking team

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS degree in computer related field and 8 years network and operating system experience, or AA degree in computer science and 10 years of experience in Network design, test and maintenance or equivalent related experience (2 years' experience = 1 full year college studies)

  • Experience with access control list (ACLs), VLANs, DNS, IPAM, Port Security, Traffic Shaping, Priority Queuing, Class of Service (CoS), Quality of Service (QoS), IP routing, SD-WAN, load-balancing, etc.

  • Solid understanding of Layer 2 and 3 Protocols including Spanning Tree, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP

  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting using PRTG, Wireshark, or similar products

  • Experience with Security Information Event Manager (SIEM) and/or other tools used in network cyber security efforts like network vulnerability analysis or Netflow analysis

  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud network infrastructure (on-premises, AWS-G, and Azure Gov)

  • Applicant must have experience with the design, provisioning and troubleshooting of WAN/LAN/WLAN and Security technologies

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with IPV4 and IPV6

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Cisco or Arista Routing and Switching

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with implementing and supporting 802.1X, PKI, SNMP, RADIUS, SYSLOG, TACACS, etc.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Cisco Routers (ASR and ISR)

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Firewall and Security related technologies (Palo Alto preferred)

  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to interface well with CAE users and customers at all levels

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours as needed

  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results

  • Able to generate and teach detailed procedures to IT Network staff

Preferred Skills

  • CCNP or Arista ACE L5 required

  • Experience with Arista SD-WAN

  • Experience with Cisco hardware and software (ASA, ACS or ISE, Prime, UCS)

  • Experience with Infoblox IPAM

  • Experience with Arista CloudVision Platform

  • Experience with Palo Alto Networks hardware and software (NGFWs, Panorama, Site-to-Site VPN, Client VPN)

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

  • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.

  • Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.

  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.

  • Employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, in person, in meetings and by telephone.

  • Manual dexterity to operate computers or other standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Able to support rack mounted equipment (up to 7 feet off the ground)
