About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Staff Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for our core Transportation Management System (TMS). This pivotal role requires defining product vision, translating complex business needs into detailed specifications, and managing the development backlog to deliver maximum value. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of product management experience in logistics technology, with deep expertise in TMS processes and a technical understanding of APIs and EDI. You will act as the primary stakeholder for all TMS matters, working closely with engineering teams in an agile environment using tools like Jira and Confluence to deliver scalable solutions. A proven ability to make data-driven decisions is essential, while experience in the automotive industry or with Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Product Strategy: Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our TMS, aligning it with company goals.
  • Feature Definition: Gather and analyze business requirements from stakeholders, including logistics, operations, and sales teams. Translate these into detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Project and Priority Management: Effectively manage a backlog of multiple competing priorities and projects, making data-driven decisions on what to build next to deliver the most value to the business.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all TMS-related matters, communicating effectively with technical teams and business leaders to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
  • Market and User Analysis: Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and user feedback sessions to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Agile Development: Work closely with engineering teams in an agile environment to ensure timely delivery of scalable, high-quality products.
  • Performance Monitoring: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of product features and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in product management, with a strong focus on logistics or supply chain technology.
  • TMS Expertise: Deep knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and a solid understanding of logistics processes, including freight tendering, carrier management, route optimization, and tracking within complex logistics networks.
  • Technical Skills: Experience working with software development teams and an understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and integrations using API, EDI, XML, JSON.
  • Agile Tools: Proven proficiency with agile development tools, including Jira for managing backlogs and tracking progress, and Confluence for creating and maintaining product documentation.
  • Analytical Abilities: Proven ability to use data to inform decisions and define product success metrics.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry, with an understanding of just-in-time (JIT) and complex, high-volume supply chains.
  • Startup Environment: Experience working in a startup or fast-paced, high-growth company where you had to wear multiple hats, make critical decisions with limited resources, and build processes from the ground up.
