The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health is seeking a full-time Podiatrist to join the team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. The Podiatrist will provide comprehensive podiatric care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting the mission of NYU Langone Health and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical care, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and resident teaching. Responsibilities include:
- Educates patient and family to facilitate and promote healthy adjustment to new or changed health patterns.
- Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution, department, and clinical service.
- Plans and organizes care to meet individual patient needs and to ensure appropriate clinical resource utilization per protocols, pathways, and other means.
- Works collaboratively with the multiple interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement the therapeutic plan of care for a group of patients and ensure communication with family members.
- Participates in the development and revision of interdisciplinary and hospital standards, patient, and family education materials as relevant to area of practice and expertise.
- Works collaboratively to maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members, house staff, other disciplines, and ancillary services.
- Provides consultation about the therapeutic regimen to the nursing staff responsible for the patients care in the hospital setting.
- Facilitates patient's throughput and efficient process during patients' entire admission and discharge while either under the Podiatry service or as a consultative following.
- Manage both ambulatory and inpatient medical & surgical documentation for Podiatry patients to assure all necessary documents, notes evaluations, consents, and surgical pathway workflows are monitored and completed.
- Manage daily progress notes on Podiatric Service inpatients either via consultative or direct admission to the service.
- Completion of Admission and Discharge summaries.
- Completion of Operative notes within 24 hours.
- Coverage of the service as delegated for cycle of thirty-day periods including weekends.
- Participates in designated activities related to professional practice standards.
- Prescribes in-patient and discharge medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization.
- Prescribes durable medical equipment devices, physical and occupational therapy, and home health services per practice protocol.
- Functions as a respectful member of the health care team.
- Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical role.
- Maintains current expertise in area of practice.
- Completion all clinical notes within 48 hours and inpatient notes within end of visit period with preference to same day.
- Review EPIC In Basket daily, responding accordingly to requests, lab review confirmations and staff messages and replying to patient messages within 72 hours.
- The provider is expected to participate in all aspects of care as it related to Correctional Health Outpatient and Inpatient clinical areas.
- Candidates will be required to actively participate in a residency driven program and is expected to be part of the training curriculum of both Podiatric & non-Podiatric students & residents.
- Candidates will be required to actively participate in all areas of patient care including Outpatient, Inpatient ("Rounds"), On-Call (including weekends and holidays), and collaborative service line clinical areas.
- Candidate is expected to participate in Call Coverage on a rotating basis with other staff Podiatrist based on a block schedule as determined by the Chief of Service or Designee based on the departments needs at the time.
- The candidate will be responsible for responding to and assuring proper follow-up on Podiatric referrals which include (but not limited to) eConsult's, Emergency Department and in-house referrals.
- All other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee.
Salary: $181,860* *The salary listed is for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience is required in Podiatric surgery which includes both forefoot and rearfoot procedures, (consideration may be made to include a percentage of previous residency surgical cases but they must include documented rearfoot cases where candidate was a PGY II or greater and the primary resident).
- Graduation from a PMSR-RRA residency program or equivalent.
- Candidate is expected to be Board Certified in Forefoot + Rearfoot from an approved qualifying certification board. If a candidate is board qualified, then they are expected to be certified within a defined eligibility period, and it must not expire.
- Preference given to candidates with experience working within a Multi-disciplinary Academic facility and/or a Residency driven program.
- Preference given to candidates with experience in hospital-based patient medical management.
- Candidate must possess the skills to work collaboratively with other hospital service lines, for example, but NOT limited to; Orthopedics, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Vascular and the Emergency Department.
