Job Description
The Health Promotion Specialist will work to support the university's mission of fostering student well-being, success, and learning. This position plays a pivotal role in promoting holistic wellness by combining expertise in health education, peer program coordination, and strategic health communication. This position will lead and support student and organization level initiatives that promote mental health, resilience, and positive campus culture. This role will oversee peer educators and ambassador programs, deliver engaging educational content, and manage communication across multiple platforms. Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage digital and print health communication campaigns to promote resources, programs, and events
- Oversee content creation for newsletters, social media, digital platforms, websites, and online wellness modules
- Supervise communication student staff and interns, including oversight of the department's digital content and outreach strategies
- Supervise and support peer education programs such as the Well-Being Ambassador program and the Faculty/Staff Champions program
- Provide support to health-focused student groups and serve as a liaison for student wellness initiatives such as Project Connect, Health and Well-Being Collective, and others
- Support the initiatives of the Health and Well-Being Student Advisory Council and serve on additional wellness-related campus committees
- Provide individualized wellness consultations to students

Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Student Success, Public Health, Health Education, Psychology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience OR Master's degree in Health Communication, Public Health, Higher Education, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in health education, wellness promotion, health communication, or related student support services
- Experience with supervising student employees, peer educators, or interns
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging programs, training, and outreach efforts
- Strong writing and public speaking skills, with experience managing communications or social media platforms
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and experience supporting diverse student populations
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or eligibility to obtain within 1 year
- Experience in higher education and understanding of the student development and learning environment
- Experience with front-end website editing, digital content creation, and social media analytics
- Grant writing or project management experience
- Familiarity with JED Campus frameworks and/or mental health promotion models
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $21.71-$23.00 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
