ABOUT THE POSITION Geomatics Project Manager | Hybrid Advance your career by leading innovative Geomatics initiatives at VHB. In this role, you'll plan, organize, and manage all activities related to Survey Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Reality Capture. You'll oversee projects that deliver critical data and applications defining the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land and land features-supporting engineering, mapping, land evaluation, construction, and other essential purposes. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of geospatial solutions and make a meaningful impact across a wide range of projects. Responsibilities
Manages projects, project staff, and clients.
- Establishes budgets and schedules for new projects.
- Coordinates work of data collection, GIS analysts, and data/CAD technicians.
- Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing geodetic control.
- Performs QA/QC checks. Manages quality control of all products.
- Uses and/or oversees the use of specialized equipment such as laser scanners and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to collect the pertinent data required for the project.
- Reviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracy.
- Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed. Capable of assuming legal responsibility for work, as required.
- Coordinates delivery of reality capture products to internal/external clients and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develops appropriate reports and applications, where required, for the geomatics project (e.g., quality of data analysis).
- Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures.
Skills and Attributes
- Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings.
- Proficient in the visualization and/or use of digital 3D models
- Proficient in the development of deliverables created from point clouds
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of one or more of VHB's geomatics specialties (e.g., Survey Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Reality Capture).
- Team-oriented with capability to work independently.
- Detailed and task oriented.
- Excellent research skills.
- Ability to operate company vehicles.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of geomatics or reality capture experience, including some experience managing projects required
- 2 years of fiscal/contract management experience preferred
- Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Professional Land Surveyor license preferred or ability to obtain within 24 months
