The Vendor Management Inventory Technician delivers and services key vending account customers and customer cabinets / storerooms relative to inventory of gases, consumables and safety products.

  • Additionally, this position does basic troubleshooting and mechanical repairs as needed.

  • This position focuses on servicing existing accounts throughout an assigned district.

  • Delivery and replenishment to customers of various industrial products and vending machine or storeroom items.

  • Reviews manual stock levels of various inventories at multiple plant departments for reorder.

  • Maintains dedicated branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.

  • Tracks and turns in delivery tickets and consignment fill tickets.

  • Input orders using SAP for supply chain customers over the phone, via email, or other means.

  • Work closely with VMI Technicians to generate quotes for customers on new products and/or existing items.

  • Maintain and update VMI Technician schedules, min/max sheets, and other administrative documents.

  • Assist with the creation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Supply Chain customers.

  • Assist with the onboarding of new customers with Key Account Coordinator by inputting new parts, quoting out products, and securing samples in the system.

  • Create and edit customer agreements related to pricing and stocking levels.

  • Act as the liaison between the region and suppliers, verifying order confirmations, resolving delivery problems, and following up on backorders.

  • Act as the primary contact for vending machine issues, repairs, and future installations.

  • Escalates additional issues or concerns with the Supply Chain Manager.

  • Coordinate installations with Vending Technicians to ensure timely delivery of new equipment.

  • Update vending machine employee data, part numbers, and other items using the Cribmaster or Supply Pro database.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required. Two to four year college degree preferred.

Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Must have prior inventory management, customer service, sales and/or PC help desk related experience.

  • Prior SAP experience preferred.

  • Prior route sales experience a plus.

  • Prior experience with welding and safety products preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Ability to provide administrative support for a Database Management System (DBMS).

  • Must have knowledge of software and hardware installation.

  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; listens effectively and clarifies information as needed; works well with others in a team environment across the organization knowing who to engage to achieve results. Uses candor and sensitivity in their dealings with others.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adjust communication method based on customer situation.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with all levels and roles in the organization and to work well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on investigation and judgement as well as ability to discern when to escalate issues.

  • Strong client-service and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Self-starter; self-motivated; operates with a sense of urgency; ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated planning skills and outstanding personal relationship skills.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds within Airgas and outside the Company.

  • Ability to problem-solve and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to spend up to approximately 70% to 80% of time traveling to customer locations in assigned territory or region.

  • Requires frequent use of a computer, telephone and operation of a motor vehicle.

  • Occasionally must be able to move up to 80 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.

  • Frequent local travel (75%-80% of work time).

  • Must have a valid US driver's license.

  • Job requires visitation to various Airgas and customer sites that have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.

  • Environment may contain loud noises and/or odors that may last for an extended period of time or on a continual basis.
