About the Job

The Manager of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving is a key member of the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS) Engagement and External Relations team. This role advances alumni relationships, fosters a culture of giving, and supports fundraising and stewardship initiatives that reflect CCAPS values: access, learning, inclusivity, collaboration, and excellence.

This full-time, 12-month, annually renewable Professional & Administrative (P&A) position reports to the Senior Director of Engagement & External Relations. This position does not currently have any direct reports.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications the week of the 13th of October and will continue until the position is filled.

Key Responsibilities

Alumni Engagement (60%)

  • Lead CCAPS's mentorship program, including recruitment, matching, training, communications, and evaluation.
  • Plan and execute alumni events (e.g., celebrations, recognition, fundraising), including logistics and volunteer coordination.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to alumni committees, supporting their efforts and involvement.
  • Collaborate on communication strategies to engage alumni and promote volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain and track alumni data in the Donor Management System (DMS); use insights to guide future programming.
  • Represent CCAPS in University of Minnesota Alumni Association initiatives.

Annual Giving & Stewardship (40%)

  • Partner with the Senior Director and University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) to set annual fundraising goals and strategies.
  • Coordinate giving campaigns and donor recognition efforts, such as:
    • Give to the Max Day
    • Crowdfunding
    • Faculty/staff giving
    • First-time and recurring donor milestones
  • Manage a portfolio of annual donors, including outreach and stewardship.
  • Produce impact reports and identify student stories for donor communications.
  • Support scholarship events and donor recognition activities.
  • Track and report key fundraising metrics.
  • Represent CCAPS in UMF stewardship and giving meetings.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in event planning, fundraising, donor relations, sales, or a related area.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive environment that serves a diverse community in a professional setting.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with care.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend events and local travel.

Preferred

  • Experience with annual giving, stewardship, or similar fundraising in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
  • Ability to solicit and secure annual gifts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with donor databases (e.g., DMS) and tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe, and Zoom.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $56,000-$66,000 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience
