The Salvation Army, Quincy Area Command is seeking a strategic and community-minded leader to serve as our Marketing & Community Engagement Manager. This role is the heartbeat of how we share our mission - telling our story in ways that inspire action, strengthen relationships, and expand awareness of The Salvation Army's programs. The right candidate will bring both vision and hands-on creativity, guiding a marketing team while also building partnerships that connect people, businesses, and organizations with opportunities to make a difference. About Us: At The Salvation Army Quincy, Area Command, our mission is to meet human needs in God's name without discrimination. Through the Kroc Center, Family Stores, and Social Services programs in Quincy and Hannibal, we provide opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. Rate of Pay: The expected salary range for this position is $58,832.25-$73,540.31 with the final salary determined based on education and/or experience exceeding the minimum qualifications. Travel: This position requires intermittent travel for trainings, workshops, and conferences that support professional growth and alignment with The Salvation Army's mission. What You'll Do As Marketing & Community Engagement Manager, you will:
- Lead Integrated Marketing Efforts: Plan and implement multi-channel campaigns (email, social, print, local media), maintain content calendars, oversee creative development (copy, graphics, short-form video), manage website updates, and ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints. Track performance metrics, optimize marketing spend, and maintain asset libraries.
- Drive Community Engagement: Build partnerships with local employers, schools, healthcare providers, and nonprofits to grow awareness, referrals, sponsorships, and donations. Represent The Salvation Army at events, presentations, and community collaborations. Work closely with Development, Family Stores, and Social Services teams to ensure outreach and engagement strategies strengthen all areas of the mission.
- Support Membership Growth & Sales: Partner with the Membership team to design and implement strategies that drive recruitment, retention, and engagement. Develop collateral for corporate memberships, analyze trends in inquiries and conversions, and adapt campaigns based on results.
- Tell Our Story: Create and share compelling content that highlights the impact of our programs and services - building trust, inspiring donors, and motivating community members to get involved. Serve as a liaison with Development to connect donor impact stories to broader community engagement efforts.
- Lead A Marketing Team: Supervise, coach, and support staff in creating engaging content, event promotions, and high-quality deliverables. Provide regular feedback, foster professional development, and oversee team scheduling, delegation, and quality control.
- Strengthen Cross-Department Initiatives: Collaborate with leaders across the Kroc Center, Development, Family Stores, and Social Services departments to design integrated campaigns, promote program launches, and reinforce how programs and services work together to meet community needs.
- Support Mission & Culture: Ensure marketing and engagement efforts reflect our values of service, compassion, and inclusivity - sharing stories that highlight dignity, inspire hope, and invite others to be part of our work.
- Oversee Administration & Compliance: Manage vendor relationships, track budgets and invoices, and ensure organizational databases, email platforms, and digital assets are maintained with accuracy and professionalism.
What are We Looking For?
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field required.
- 4+ years in marketing, outreach, community relations, or membership/sales; nonprofit or recreation/fitness experience is a plus.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- A genuine passion for The Salvation Army's mission and the ability to communicate that passion in outreach, storytelling, and community building efforts.
- Proven ability to develop partnerships with businesses, schools, nonprofits, and groups while representing the organization confidently in professional and community settings.
- Experience working closely with leaders to understand program goals, co-develop strategies, and ensure consistent messaging across the organization.
- Strong team leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and support staff while fostering a positive, collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and presentation.
- Proficiency in using digital marketing tools (social media, email platforms, websites, Adobe/Canva) and the ability to analyze data to refine strategies.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple campaigns, events, and outreach initiatives simultaneously.
- Resourceful, innovative, and adaptable, with the flexibility to meet changing community needs.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends to support events and outreach activities.
- Valid drivers license and insured, reliable transportation.
