Job Title: Seasonal Assistant/Driver

FLSA Status: Temporary, Full-Time - non-exempt

Reports to: Corps Officer

Schedule: Varies, 40hours/week

Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $15/hour

Closing Date: 10/08/2025

Benefits: Temporary; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:



  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)


JOB SUMMARY: Driving to collect Kettles and Angel tree items, when needed donations of food and other items from local businesses and individuals, safely and securely transporting those donations within The Salvation Army vehicles to our Admin building, Angel Tree warehouse, Thrift Store, Social Services Building, adjacent cold storage units. Able to work safely and consistently in a fast-paced, challenging work environment. Handling all donated items with integrity, respect and care. Ensure a safe, clean and organized work area/ environment. Consistently represent The Salvation Army with a high standard of ethics, good conduct and friendliness to all in the general public whom the Truck Driver comes in contact with, in person or otherwise, without discrimination. Maintenance assistance, clearing snow, and assist in other special projects.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED minimum. 6 months successful work experience in either retail, resale, warehousing, or a production environment, preferred. Spanish speaking is also preferred, not required.



  • This position requires driving:

    • A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
    • An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.


  • Background Check

    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to receive direction and follow instructions. Must display the ability to be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks at hand. Self-motivated and consistent in accomplishing tasks in the allotted time. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Detail oriented, accurate and precise. Capable of maintaining high level of integrity in conduct and in daily work. Must maintain confidentiality. Consistently demonstrates an energetic, personable and dependable work performance. When on site use of radio is required for communication. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Support The Salvation Army's mission in your daily work.

DUTIES:



  • Drive a Salvation Army vehicle during work hours
  • Pick up/drop off and load/unload donations from kettle sites, angel tree sites, and vendors
  • Write up paperwork for each donation accurately and efficiently.
  • Clean and gas up vehicle regularly.
  • Perform and assist in other duties as assigned.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and/or over 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to pull information from a computer, Ability to understand written information. Ability to navigate stairs and ramps in our facilities. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
