We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our team working in the following areas: Stormwater Management; Storm Drainage; Erosion and Sediment Control; Hydrology/ Hydraulics Modeling/Design; Watershed Studies; and Stream Restoration for various exciting projects throughout RK&K's project portfolio. Essential Functions
- Develop, evaluate, and design water resource elements to support public works infrastructure and ecological restoration projects across RK&K's vast portfolio with a focus on the Mid-Atlantic region
- Proactively deliver a wide range of water resource projects including drainage design, stormwater management, flood studies, watershed plans, erosion and sediment control, scour analysis, outfall stabilization/ stream restoration, and other related projects in accordance with the scope, schedule, and budget set by the project manager
- Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness
- Meet and work directly with other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients
- Develop civil engineering plans using MicroStation, GeoPak/OpenRoads and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
- Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction
- Develop detailed project analysis and prepare permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of environmental issues and conditions associated with water resources projects
- Lead tasks, plan budgets, manage subconsultants
Required Skills and Experience
- BS in Civil / Environmental Engineering or similar field
- 4 + years of experience in a similar role - civil water resources, environmental or transportation engineering
- PE or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Experience with CADD (MicroStation/AutoCAD) and GIS
- Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic software
- Candidates will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must:
- Be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks,
- Have ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entities, and
- Be capable and willing to provide in-house staff augmentation services to local public-sector clients at their facilities on a part time basis..
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 8 years of experience in a similar role - civil water resources, environmental or transportation engineering
- Experience with Microstation OpenRoads
- Experience with TR-55, TR-20, HY-8, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), GISHydro, HydroCAD
- Experience with public sector clients in the Mid-Atlantic area
