The Test Engineer Intern will be supporting RENK America Test engineers in the daily tasks of developing and executing test plans in the support of engine and transmission testing at RENK America. Projects range in scope from assisting the electronics department in improving and troubleshooting issues in the production test cells, identifying required instrumentation for the testing of products and post processing of data files for use in final test reports. Responsibilities may include assisting the test engineering team in design, develop and implement integration plans for procedures for hardware, software, and facilities. Other responsibilities may include assisting in the reccomendation and execution of capital projects.
Essential Functions: Derive / verify customer test specifications. Maintain and utilize computer software programs for test data acquisition, reduction, plotting and tracking. Assist in the planning and execution of tests of Diesel Engines, Cross drive transmissions, and other Powertrain equipment. Prepare test documentation and customer presentations. Design and specify control systems for test cell operation, test fixtures and test equipment including system design, software and sensor selection, panel lay-out and schematic development. Work with test technicians in the operation and maintenance / upgrade of test equipment. Work closely with internal test customers Qualifications: Working toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering from an accredited university (Jr. or Sr. status). Demonstrated technical ability through a high GPA (3.0 minimum). Demonstrated systems test experience in a lab environment. Must be able to move freely within the manufacturing and lab environment with reasonable accommodation Preferred Additional Skills: Physical or Theoretical Experience with system control methodologies and technologies and the acquisition of electronic control system data Introductory knowledge of test equipment and methods including data acquisition and instrumentation. Introduction/experience to one of the following software/hardware systems preferred (LabView, Matlab/Simulink, Python) Ability to work well with internal and external customers.
