Title: Specialist - Contract Administrator II

Location: Remote (US)

Duration: 4+ months

Hours: 8 am - 5 pm (some flexibility if needed)

Summary:

This position is responsible for preparing complex proposals & administrative services agreements for major contracts for our self-insured groups. Candidate will also work on renewal contracts (amendments, verbiage, redlines, etc.) as needed

Team Size: Team consists of (1) Senior ASO Manager, (1) Compliance Specialist, (1) Acct Mgmt. Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains contract language and materials.
  • Translates business requirements into legally compliant contract language and materials.
  • Translates regulatory and compliance (including BCBS Association) requirements into legally compliant contract language and materials.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively throughout the contract development and review processes.
  • Identifies any potential issues or discrepancies in contract language and materials, provides feedback and works to implement solutions.
  • Maintains detailed and organized tracking of contract language and materials including redlines, feedback, outstanding questions, decisions, and version control.
  • Memorializes fully executed contractual documents in an organized and standardized way for efficient and effective document retrieval.
  • Utilizes project management processes to ensure deliverables are delivered on time, with high quality standards and meet customer expectations.
  • Proactively leads or supports auditing of contract language and materials. Identifies, tracks, and reports organizational risks related to contracting language and materials to peers, leadership, and business/legal stakeholders (e.g., missing contracts, delinquent requests post effective date, "unusual" contract requests, etc.).
  • Stores, retrieves, and disseminates general and group-specific contract language and materials to support internal and external business inquiries on data security, regulatory, audits and investigations.
  • Leads or supports the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Procedures, best practices, etc.).
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance overall departmental efficiency and effectiveness.

    Provides guidance to peers and business/legal partners for any contract related questions and/or issues.
  • As a contract administrator, you will oversee the specific mandates in a contract and make sure that all parties involved fulfill obligations to which they agreed.
  • As a contract administrator must know the ins and outs of a contract and ensure all sides adhere to its specific terms, conditions, rights, and obligations.
  • It is also the administrator's responsibility to coordinate any changes that may transpire, and to make sure that those changes are agreed upon by all involved.
  • When the contract has been fulfilled, the contract administrator will complete a closeout process to ensure that the contract has been ended in an appropriate manner.
  • Preparing proposals for major contracts, which include reviewing and negotiating contractual details, including specifications, price, date of delivery and contractual provisions


Required Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education
  • Strong MS Word skills including formatting and editing contractual documents (typically 40-80 pages in length including exhibits)
  • Strong understanding of key concepts of a services agreement/contract including legal/compliance terms that are commonly negotiated (i.e., indemnification and liability, confidential and trade secret information, litigation, termination clauses, service/program fees, etc.)
  • A foundational understanding of health insurance (from either a group or provider/hospital perspective) and/or the initiative to seek out resources to learn more
  • Critical thinking skills to analyze and respond appropriately to contract inquiries and/or requests as well as negotiations


Required Education
