Job Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for ensuring the Eden Prairie Innovation Center (EPIC) maintains a clean, safe, and professional appearance. This includes the upkeep of all interior and exterior areas of the facility.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Clean and restock all restrooms daily and as needed
• Clean and maintain all common ways daily including floors, entry ways, kitchen, lobby, Grove, Coffee Bar and garbage/recycling receptacle areas
• Maintain and clean all light fixtures, blinds, furniture, and equipment as needed
• Order and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies
• Support external vendors coming on site including letting them in and out of various doors.
• Support annual vendor inspections such as City and Fire inspectors
• Notify supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
• Verify all doors are closed and secure at the end of each shift
• May perform minor and routine repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools
• Clean and maintain patio (including furniture, grills, garbage)
• Remove snow and debris from sidewalk and trim shrubbery, using hand tools and power tools
• Clean lab sinks, lab floors, dish room and pilot plant
• Clean and sanitize all table surfaces throughout the facility
• Maintain shipping/receiving area
• Support with event set-up and clean-up
• Other duties, as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Degree or equivalent
• 5+ years of custodial or building maintenance experience

Knowledge and Skills:

• Self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and willingness to take initiative on light maintenance projects
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable with a consistent work ethic and attendance
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Trustworthy with ability to perform all parts of the job requirements unsupervised
• Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and safety procedures

Additional Considerations:

• Travel Expectation: Local travel (hardware store)
• This position will be based at EPIC (Eden Prairie Innovation Center)
• Work Schedule: 32-40 hours/week (with flexibility)

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to climb ladders and operate light equipment
• Routine use of standard cleaning products in accordance with safety guidelines
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
