Position Summary

MultiCare Mary Bridge Children's is seeking a board-certified Pediatric Cardiologist and leader to join our well-established, thriving and comprehensive group practice in Washington. This position includes work in the Children's Hospital along with outpatient clinics. Providers at MultiCare are recognized as being among the best in the Northwest Region. Responsibilities

  • Performance Management: Provide guidance and support to physicians and APPs, mentorship to new physicians/APPs, and promotes a culture of collaboration and excellence. Evaluate and manage the performance of physicians/APPs, addressing issues of productivity, patient satisfaction, and professional development. Addresses HeROs submitted with physician/APP concerns and supports improvement and accountability.
  • Directs the professional medical care rendered by interventional cardiologist and electrophysiologist physicians and APPs in the Hospital in accordance with established Medical Staff Bylaws; all Department Rules and Regulations; and Hospital/Outpatient Surgery policies and procedures specific to ambulatory care.
  • Actively participates in the development, maintenance and periodic review of policies, procedures, protocols, and national standards within the subspecialty ensuring evidence-based care of inpatients and outpatients. As the program builds over time, there will be duties around lab set-up, supplies, staffing, and organization.
  • Participates in clinical practice guideline, pathway, protocol, and order set development.
  • Assists as needed with the resolution of patient care problems such as, but without limitation, patient access to care, emergencies and professional medical disputes involving patient care.
  • Plays a key role in quality improvement and utilization management activities related to patients receiving cath/EP cardiology care services from Hospital in all settings (ambulatory, emergency, inpatient ward, pediatric and neonatal ICU, operating room, and catheterization suite) including those in the adult congenital population
  • Attends and participates in such Hospital and Medical Staff Committees as are necessary to carry out the duties as Medical Director, including Pediatric cardiology collaborative meetings, monthly Pediatric Cardiology combined operations meetings, Pediatric Cardiology sub-committees, medicine, surgery, and perioperative service committees.
  • Participates in peer review and selection process of new physicians as requested.
  • Supports and models teaching to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.
  • Supports and participates in activities to ensure compliance with meaningful use requirements and patient electronic medical records.
  • Oversees the process of cath/EP cardiology care delivery and transition of care.
  • Clinical oversight: Ensure the quality of patient care and adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols as well as ensuring there is 24/7 hospital coverage in accordance with the bylaws for pediatric cath/EP cardiology services
  • Actively participate in performance measurement and process improvement activities, as defined by Heart Center Governance Council and any other programmatic governing bodies.
  • Works to oversee and facilitate collaborative care delivery among all physicians and APPs care.
  • Conducts rounds to assess the appropriate level of bed placement for patients with active cardiac diagnoses.
  • Participate in ECMO for PICU program, including appropriate use of protocols, inclusion and transfer criteria, and recommendations for program optimization as related to cardiac services.
  • Works collaboratively with selected cardiac partners to develop a pediatric and congenital heart center.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD or DO)
  • Licensure to practice medicine in Washington State as a Physician
  • Board certified in Pediatric Cardiology, with additional training in interventional cardiology or electrophysiology at time of employment
  • Greater than 10 years' experience with expertise in neonatal, pediatric, and congenital interventions and diagnoses
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
