DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform semi-skilled work in maintaining the buildings and grounds at the Southwestern Veterans' Center. Your work will involve lawn maintenance, landscaping activities, and keeping the walkways and parking areas free of debris and snow during the winter months. You will also operate large equipment such as lawn tractors, snowplows, and other machinery. Some of your duties will include performing preventative maintenance of equipment, performing masonry work, and assisting with carpentry functions. You can expect to clean all areas of work upon the completion of tasks. Additionally, you will assist other tradespersons as needed and transport materials or residents in Commonwealth vehicles.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
