DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Certified Nurse's Aide under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide care in the following areas: Skilled Care, Personal Care, Outpatient, and General Population. Some of the daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and provide quality care
  • Completing documentation as required
  • Collecting specimens as directed by the Registered Nurse
  • Completing or assisting inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure basic physical care needs are met
  • Participating in Life Skills programming
  • Performing emergency procedures and participating in emergency response drills as assigned

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
    • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
    • You will work 8-hour shifts, with rotating days off
  • Work hours TO BE DETERMINED
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
