THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, inspecting, and evaluating tasks related to food preparation, production, serving, baking, meat cutting, and sanitation. This includes overseeing food service personnel and ensuring order and discipline among inmate workers. You will establish work procedures, schedule tasks, and assign staff to meet time requirements. Additionally, you will maintain records and reports related to menus, recipes, orders, requisitions, and inventory, as well as the performance of food service personnel and inmate workers.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are a swing shift of 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with rotating days off.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Corrections Food Service Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation, which included one year of lead work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which included one year of lead work experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
