Job Summary
Performs foundational accounting and clerical work to support bi-weekly payroll processing. Serves as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, providing direct customer support and guidance on using Employee Self-Service tools. Wage range: $40,950 to $56,737 (12 month position)

THE SELECTION PROCESS: will be job-related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral or performance tests; or other assessment methods. The Office of Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral and performance examinations. Oral examinations may include written exercises. Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent WITH post-high school training, preferably in Accounting, Payroll, or Human Resources is required.
- Two years of previous experience working in a high-volume, customer-focused area is required.
- PeopleSoft experience is desired.
Equivalent combinations of job-related coursework and experience may also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries at the service window, by phone, and via email. Provides guidance and instruction to employees on utilizing Employee Self-Service tools for tasks such as updating direct deposit and personal information.
- Calculates hours worked from time documents, production reports and other written sources.
- Responds to inquiries regarding pay and deduction policies and practices.
- Inputs data from various sources into the computerized payroll system (PeopleSoft). Processes adjustments and correct time entry errors.
- Maintains payroll related records. Processes direct deposit, Rapid Card, and tax withholding (W-4/WT-4) form changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance before data entry.
- Contributes to the departmental knowledgebase by documenting, updating, and refining work instructions, job aids, and checklists for assigned duties to support operational consistency and cross-training.
- Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
