As a Senior Snowflake Infrastructure Engineer reporting to the Director of Database Services, you'll play a pivotal role in transforming our legacy on-premise data warehouse into a cutting-edge SaaS solution built on Snowflake. This is a high-impact opportunity to architect secure, scalable infrastructure that supports enterprise-wide analytics and decision-making. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the future of our data ecosystem and ensure compliance with the highest standards of financial data governance. Responsibilities:
Design and implement core Snowflake account architecture across multiple environments (e.g., development, testing, production) to support scalable and secure data operations. Establish and enforce role-based access control (RBAC) and other security configurations to ensure proper data segregation and least-privilege access across teams and workloads. Develop and maintain network policies, encryption standards, and data masking rules to protect sensitive financial data and meet internal and external compliance requirements. Ensure alignment with financial data governance and regulatory frameworks such as SOX, NYDFS, and applicable standards from SEC and FINRA, through automated auditing, monitoring, and documentation practices. Integrate Snowflake with enterprise identity providers (e.g., Azure AD, Okta) for centralized authentication and authorization management. Automate Snowflake provisioning and configuration using infrastructure-as-code tools and scripting languages to support repeatable and consistent deployments. Collaborate with data engineering and governance teams to implement metadata management, data lineage tracking, and policy enforcement across the Snowflake ecosystem. Monitor and optimize Snowflake performance and cost efficiency, including compute resource usage, storage management, and query tuning.
Education Requirements:
Master's Degree is preferred, bachelor's degree from accredited university Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field is required.
Basic Requirements:
5+ years of experience in data infrastructure, cloud data platforms, or enterprise data engineering roles, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake. Proven expertise in Snowflake account setup, security configuration, and environment management in a multi-tenant or enterprise setting. Strong understanding of data security principles, including encryption, access control, and secure data sharing within cloud environments. Experience implementing and maintaining compliance with financial regulations such as SOX, NYDFS, and standards from SEC and FINRA. Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code practices. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including integration with identity providers and cloud-native services. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, including data engineering, security, compliance, and governance functions. Excellent documentation, communication, and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on operational excellence and audit readiness.
Preferred Requirements:
SnowPro Core and or/ Advanced: Architect certification or equivalent expertise in Snowflake architecture and optimization, or cloud platform certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics) are strongly preferred. Experience implementing data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, or Alation within a Snowflake environment. Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for deploying and managing Snowflake infrastructure as code. Prior experience in a regulated financial services environment, with direct involvement in audits or regulatory reporting. Strong understanding of data lineage, cataloging, and metadata management to support enterprise-wide data transparency and compliance. Demonstrated continuing education in data security, cloud architecture, or financial compliance frameworks is a plus. Strong understanding of data governance and regulatory compliance in financial services, supported by formal training or coursework, is highly desirable.
