Responsibilities

Peraton Space Technology Services (STS) is the prime contractor on the Environmental Test and Integration Services III (ETIS III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). We support the GSFC Engineering and Technology Directorate's Mechanical Systems Division in Greenbelt, Maryland. We provide facility operations and maintenance as well as integration and testing to support spaceflight hardware development.

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities ensure spacecraft and flight experiments will withstand the rigors of launch and will operate properly in the space environment. In addition to operations, these technical facilities have on-going goals of advancing the state-of-the-art in the development of improved space flight systems.

The GSFC Environmental Test and Integration Facilities are one of the most complete and comprehensive space hardware test complexes within the United States Government. This position is specifically for GSFC Building 7 and AMB branch Tool Crib Attendant. The candidate's time will be split between both tool cribs. The candidate will perform moderate tasks, demonstrating an ability to achieve full competency. Will receive and implement directions from senior level technicians and engineers. Display an ability to adapt to weekend and holiday support on short notice and extended hours as required.

Responsibilities of the Position:

    Maintains several databases for the ETIS contract
  • Inventory for both GSFC Building 7 and AMB tool cribs
  • Tracking log for delivered/received calibrations
  • Tracks weekly cleanup sheets for five areas that the Integration group is responsible for maintaining, relays level of completion to supervisor on a weekly basis, and uploads completed sheets to Share Point
  • Facilitates the organization and placement of tools, hardware and miscellaneous items used by Integration and AMB machine shop technicians
  • The tool crib is responsible for reporting any anomalies with LDE devices to the proper channels
  • Maintains real-time sign-out sheets for items that have been removed from the tool cribs (calibrated, consumable, LDE , keys etc.)
  • Works closely with LDE to maintain certified lifting hardware on the shelf
  • Relays procurement requests to a procurement specialist and the Integration group supervisor to maintain a well-stocked tool crib
  • Databases, tracks, and sends calibrated tools out for the Integration and AMB teams. This includes weekly transactions with Tektronix and delivering tools once they arrive
  • Communicates regularly with flight projects and other entities to coordinate use of tool crib assets
  • Communicates with management, if necessary, when items have been signed out for an extended period with no updates
  • Sends "update" emails to techs and management when new items/services have been added to the tool crib
  • Presents a safety topic at the monthly Integration group department safety meeting and sends a written record of that topic to their supervisor
  • Coordinates use of 547-owned fleet vehicles and other 549-owned equipment (manlifts, forklifts, etc.)
  • Provides 549 vehicle mileage reports
  • Requests feedback from end user technicians to keep a real-time record of vehicle/equipment heath and relays that information to the LDE group and supervisor


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Highly proficient in databasing, general computer use, and the Microsoft suite of applications, especially Excel and Word
  • 2 years or more of experience in an engineering or space flight hardware environment
  • Knowledgeable in identifying various tools, measuring devices, materials, etc. that pertain to tool crib operations

Target Salary Range

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
