As a Systems Administrator with the Town, you'll play a key role in keeping our technology running smoothly and securely across all departments. This position provides advanced technical support for a wide range of systems-including computing hardware, networks, voice and data communications, imaging, and radio systems (excluding 911). Working under general supervision, you'll gain the knowledge and experience needed to take ownership of critical responsibilities, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver reliable IT services that support our employees and the community we serve.

Salary

  • Hiring Range: $76,456 - 109,037/year
  • Anticipated Hiring Range: $76,456 - $91,747/year




ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time (Monday-Friday shifts) 40 hours per week with some nights and weekends as needed.
  • This position is eligible to work remotely one to two days per week dependent upon successful completion of the probationary period and supervisor approval. Schedule may vary depending on specific needs.
  • Must be able to work on-call schedule as assigned and understands the On-Call policy for the department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Administrator



  • Safeguards security of data, network access, and backup systems.
  • Serves as systems administrator for all computing and telecommunications systems.
  • Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and configurations.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of Active Directory Windows 2012/2016, including the maintenance of accounts, security groups, group policies, server-based shared directories, and permissions.
  • Maintains VMware infrastructure, including physical hosts, SAN, and operating systems.
  • Maintains and supports LAN/WAN network devices.
  • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Administration of Office 365 environment, including using PowerShell to make backend changes to the environment.
  • Mentors and coaches and provides lead tech support to Desktop Technician



Budgets, Contracts, and Purchasing



  • Assists with developing and interpreting organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining service contracts, including cloud-based services such as Office 365, hosted VOIP phone services, and network monitoring services.
  • Assists in the administration of departmental budget and makes recommendations for capital budgeting expenditures, and ensure cost-effectiveness.



Customer Service and Support

  • Provides customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Provide IT support, including help desk, hardware, software, peripherals, network (LAN/WAN), and meeting-related audio/visual.
  • Performs related work as required and assigned.



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in Information Systems. Including the following type of work:

    • Direct end-user support and an environment that includes systems using personal computers
    • Integrated automated systems
    • Voice/data/image communications


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or any other related field.
  • Working experience in using Active Directory Windows 2019/2022, including experience in maintenance of accounts, security groups, group policies, server-based shared directories, and permissions.
  • Working experience with VMware infrastructure, including physical hosts, SAN, and operating systems.



A combination of education and experience may be considered.



Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining and supporting LAN/WAN network devices.
  • Municipal/government IT work experience.
  • Win OS, M365, VoIP phone, mobile devices, computer and application experience.
  • Demonstrate exceptional technical competency and be extremely customer service-oriented.
  • Wide range of problem-solving skills, as well as an ability to work with end-users at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize a high-volume workload while multitasking across multiple tasks.
  • Proactive, independent, and collaborative working style with minimal supervision.



Job Expectations:

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Opportunity for remote work with a requirement of being in-office a minimum of 3-4 days a week, dependent on business needs.
  • This role may require you to visit other Town facilities to provide tech support.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely to various Town facilities, and at times other locations, to perform the duties of the position. A motor vehicle record will be pulled through the post-offer background check, and annually thereafter.
