KJ is seeking an Accounting Manager based out of our Portland location to lead and oversee accounts receivable and billing processes.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Assist with the monthly revenue recognition process including the oversight of earned value calculations for percent complete projects.
  • Assist with and help manage audits including financial, ERISA, R&D overhead, government, client, and other audits as they occur.
  • Manage the project billers including reviewing accuracy of project set ups, WIP generation, billings (such as invoice lead times, corrections/adjustments, etc.) and close-outs.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and accounting functions including but not limited to billing, accounts payable, project financials, timesheets, etc.
  • Ensure the consistent application of KJ accounting policy related to billing and projects records.
  • Review/Analyze key performance indicators/metrics for projects to support management and identify areas of process improvement.
  • Complete ad hoc audits of project financials, including variance reporting, WIP analysis, budget reconciliation and other project reporting.
  • Oversee the proper reconciliation of variances that occur in the application of cash.
  • Assist the Controller in the filing of monthly, quarterly and annual taxes related to gross receipts/revenue.
  • Recommend and implement agreed procedure improvements to the billing process.
  • Assist in the generation of journal entries for month end close.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Assist the controller to maintain systems and procedures to assure adequate internal controls for the protection of corporate assets, accurate reporting of operations, and risk management.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other business-related degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience, preferably in an architecture or engineering environment.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products and project-based accounting software (preferably BST10).
  • Ability to interact professionally both internally and externally at all levels of an organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and a client-oriented service attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as a valuable member of the team.

Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $95,000 to $120,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications and geographic location.
