If so, Terracon invites you to join us as an Experienced Occupational Safety & Health Instructor based in person at our Mountlake Terrace, WA office and will serve mostly the greater Puget Sound and western Washington region. In this full-time role, you'll lead engaging and informative safety and health training workshops for a diverse range of public and private sector clients. We're looking for someone with solid experience in occupational safety and health regulations (WA Labor & Industries, OSHA), hazardous materials/waste (EPA, OSHA), teaching and adult instructional design. Experience with regulated building materials such as asbestos and lead paint is a strong plus. We share your passion. What You'll Do: General Responsibilities: Design, deliver and evaluate instructor-led safety and health courses. Teach recurring courses both in-person and virtually, with a focus on interactive and effective participant learning. Essential Duties: Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to multi-location environment. Facilitate effective training using diverse interactive formats: presentations, group discussion, e-learning, hands-on simulation exercises, and video. Maintain, load/unload, handle, set-up, and take down equipment and supplies for simulation exercises and classes. Assess learning needs, identify performance gaps, and identify potential interventions to achieve performance objectives. Collaborate with subject matter experts and team members to develop impactful training materials for clients and Terracon employees. Create and update accurate and dynamic course content including presentations, written exercises, hands-on simulations, exams, and handouts. Develop and deliver engaging and interactive virtual learning experiences. Provide post-training support such as job aids and follow-up materials. Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements by monitoring performance, soliciting input from managers and employees, etc. Establish own schedule for teaching preparation and classroom audio-visual content development. Offer constructive feedback to participants to enhance their learning experience. Maintain a positive, organized, and respectful classroom environment. Manage conflicts in classes independently. Ensure all training activities meet safety and quality standards. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. What You Bring: Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field or a minimum of 5 years' of closely related experience. Experience in tracking and monitoring training effectiveness, utilizing evaluation instruments such as surveys, and testing. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, government regulations and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Power Point, Word, Outlook and internet research required. Working familiarity with Excel. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems helpful. Basic mathematical and analytical skills to include various units of measurement. Ability to independently solve problems and adapt in dynamic classroom settings. Commitment to excellent customer service and positive participant engagement. Eligibility to become a Notary Public in Washington. Proficiency in Spanish helpful. Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with virtual training platforms such as Teams and Zoom. Spanish language proficiency a plus. Background in hazardous materials management, asbestos/lead safety, and related regulatory standards. The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
