Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary representative to patients visiting for routine health assessments or diagnostic testing. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory testing, and maintaining patient confidence through clear communication and professional care. The PSR II adheres to all established practices, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards. This position may be assigned to a physician's office, patient service center, or other designated location based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily work activities accurately, efficiently, and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for patients and staff
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures
- Verify patient demographics and signatures post-venipuncture to confirm proper labeling
- Accurately complete required records and documentation
- Provide excellent customer service and promote a professional, positive image to patients, clients, and colleagues
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, safety standards, and confidentiality guidelines
- Travel to and provide coverage at multiple locations as needed, sometimes with minimal notice
- Demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and professionalism in a high-volume environment
Job Requirements
- Ability to perform high-quality, accurate work in a fast-paced setting
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary specimen collection
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Must be able to make sound decisions within established procedures and exercise good judgment
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
- Willingness to travel between multiple sites with flexibility based on daily coverage needs
- Must maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and commitment to completing assigned shifts
- Candidates must reside within a 20-25-minute commute to ensure reliable attendance
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
- Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- At least two years of experience in a patient service center or similar healthcare environment preferred
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required

- COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
- This position is not eligible for remote work and requires on-site attendance
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., with Saturday shifts from 6:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
- Must be flexible and available within the 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. timeframe depending on site coverage needs
- Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume; pay rate is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles are not counted twice)
- Floaters must travel between multiple assigned sites, arrive on time at each location, and maintain a clean driving record
- Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel between sites
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination
