Job Summary: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), College of Medicine, is seeking to recruit a Director of Administrative Operations (DAO). The Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest clinical departments in the College of Medicine, with nationally recognized programs in clinical care, research, and education. The DAO leads and oversees the operational, financial, regulatory, and business activities of the Department of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine. This includes financial analysis and strategy related to medical service, healthcare maintenance, and procurement programs; human resources and facilities management; business development, marketing, and public relations; contract negotiations; interfacing and ensuring compliance with granting organizations, regulatory agencies, university policies, and procedures. This position will report directly to the Department Head (of Psychiatry) and represent the Department Head, when necessary, on campus/university committees. Job Duties & Responsibilities: The following is a comprehensive list of some of the job duties and responsibilities expected of the DAO: Financial Management / Business Development Operations Management Grants Management Human Resources & Faculty Affairs Information Technology Clinical Education Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in health administration, Business Administration, Management, or related field (master's degree preferred). Furthermore, the selected candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of administrative/managerial experience; management experience in healthcare/academic environment preferred. Preferred qualifications include advanced training or certification in healthcare administration, finance, or project management. The preferred candidate would have demonstrated success in managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering collaboration between faculty, clinicians, researchers, and administrative staff. Knowledge of budgeting, financial forecasting, resource allocation, healthcare billing and reimbursement models, data analytics, human resources functions/recruiting/performance management/employee relations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is preferred. Benefits and Compensation: The previously determined salary range for this position is $150,000.00 to $200,000.00 (commensurate with experience).
