Assistant Controller - Private Equity Secondaries
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Compensation: $110,000 - $135,000 base + $30,000 - $35,000 bonus

Our client, a global investment manager with over $187 billion in Private Equity AUM, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its Alternatives Finance Group. This team sits at the intersection of investment professionals, fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors, ensuring the smooth financial operations of private equity funds.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for the Secondary Funds business, with exposure to the broader Private Equity platform.

  • Manage external fund administrators responsible for quarterly financial statements, capital calls, and distribution notices.

  • Review audited financials, footnote disclosures, distribution waterfalls, partnership IRRs, and management fee calculations.

  • Collaborate with auditors and tax advisors on year-end reporting and compliance.

  • Prepare cash projections and support fund liquidity management.

  • Partner with investor relations and marketing to respond to LP requests and RFPs.

  • Complete ad hoc analyses and reporting for senior management and portfolio managers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required (Big 4 background strongly preferred).

  • 5-7 years of accounting or finance experience; a mix of public/private ideal.

  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and financial reporting.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
