Job Summary

This position works within the Office of Information Technology (Tech Support) and provides technical assistance to faculty, staff and students with computer systems, workstations, cell phones, tablets, software applications, learning management software, and technology security updates. This position assists users requesting moves, installation of equipment, troubleshooting of computer hardware and software, and general technology assistance, this also includes assistance with on campus events. Will also work in a collaborative manner with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students.

Essential Functions

25% Provides first-level IT support and responds to requests or helpdesk tickets for desktop, audiovisual and/or phone systems, and on campus events

20% Maintains, installs, removes, configures, troubleshoots, and repairs, computers, electronic devices, desktop software, peripheral devices, media equipment, and supports on campus events.

20% Prepares or retrieves information and enters/updates information in reports, logs, or other documentation/record-keeping systems

15% Maintains system inventory, documentation, storage, and security of equipment; orders parts as required

10% May give work direction to student lab assistants

10% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience with desktop user support or technical support for equipment, networks, systems, telecommunications, or technology security, appropriate to assignment.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Associate's Degree or a Technology Certification.
  2. 1 year of experience in IT Maintenance, installation and support.
  3. 1 year of experience in Pro AV maintenance, installation and support.
  4. 1 year of experience in live events production and support.
  5. 1 year of experience using VOM or multimeter, testing circuits and electronic devices.


Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense

May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations

May require numerous evenings or weekends

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

May be required to lift or carry up to #50 lbs

May require ladder work, or working at heights.
