We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Enterprise Content Management Architect within our IT Enterprise Content Management group based in Houston, TX. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Own ECM Solution Architecture. Define and maintain the end-to-end architecture for the enterprise content management ecosystem, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT standards, security requirements, scalability, and business objectives.
- Lead Technical Solution Design and Delivery. Serve as the technical lead for major ECM initiatives, driving the technical design, documentation, and implementation of document management, records management, and workflow automation solutions.
- Hands-On Development and Platform Configuration. Perform hands-on configuration, scripting, and development work when needed-especially during early phases of design, complex issue resolution, and platform rollouts. Be comfortable working directly within the platform and related APIs.
- Serve as Platform Technical SME and Escalation Point. Act as the go-to expert for all technical matters related to the ECM platform (e.g., FileNet), including performance tuning, stability analysis, and troubleshooting complex or high-impact system issues.
- Act as Backup Administrator for the ECM Platform. Provide direct platform support, including routine admin tasks, patching, system monitoring, access control, and recovery processes, in coordination with the primary administrator.
- Support Integration and Interoperability. Collaborate with other system owners, enterprise architects, and integration teams to ensure smooth interoperability between the ECM system and ERP, CRM, data warehouse, and other business systems.
- Evaluate and Recommend New Technologies. Continuously evaluate new tools, frameworks, and architectural patterns (including cloud-based or AI-driven enhancements) that can add value to the ECM environment or reduce long-term operational burden.
- Ensure Governance, Compliance, and Security. Contribute to establishing and enforcing governance around content classification, retention, access, and regulatory compliance across all ECM solutions.
- Guide and Mentor Technical Teams. Provide architectural guidance and mentoring to developers, analysts, and system engineers, helping them adopt best practices in ECM development and platform operations.
- Liaise with Business and IT Stakeholders. Collaborate with business units, IT leadership, and project managers to understand requirements, communicate technical vision, and ensure solutions are aligned with business goals and user expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive Experience in ECM Platforms - Minimum 7-10 years of hands-on experience with Enterprise Content Management platforms (e.g., IBM FileNet or similar). Deep knowledge of content lifecycle, metadata modeling, document capture, retention policies, and workflow automation.
- Solution Architecture Expertise - Proven experience in designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing ECM architectures across enterprise environments.
- Technical Depth Across Stack - Strong proficiency in Java/.NET, APIs, scripting, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), infrastructure, and integration patterns. Ability to dig into system internals and resolve platform-level issues directly.
- Hands-on Implementation Capability - Able to roll up sleeves and configure systems, troubleshoot platform outages, script automation tasks, and perform technical health checks and upgrades.
- Business Acumen and Stakeholder Engagement - Able to translate business requirements into technical solutions and articulate value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Backup Administrator Skills - Capable of acting as the secondary admin for the ECM platform, with hands-on knowledge of system operations, patches, upgrades, and recovery procedures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Experience working across IT infrastructure, security, application development, and business users to drive platform adoption and reliability.
- Certifications (Preferred) - IBM Certified Solution Architect, OpenText Content Server Certifications, or relevant Cloud/DevOps certifications (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, etc.)
