The Opportunity
This dual professional staff position reports to the Associate Library Director for Technologies and Information Resources and leads the selection, development, assessment, and management of Hazy Library's print and electronic book and periodical collections in support of the ERAU curriculum. The position also serves as a subject liaison to assigned academic departments, providing research instruction and consultations to students.
Key responsibilities include chairing the Collection Management Committee, building strong faculty partnerships to support curricular needs, and collaborating with librarians to evaluate the effectiveness of library collections and information literacy initiatives. The role also works closely with colleagues at the Hunt Library (Daytona Beach Campus) to ensure coordinated, data-informed collection development and access to information resources.
Staff of the Hazy Library and Learning Center support university values, contribute to strategic initiatives, and continuously enhance library services.
Essential Functions
Collection Development and Liaison Services
  • Lead the planning, development, management, and assessment of print collections (monographs, serials, standing orders) to support teaching, learning, and research.
  • Oversee collection management activities including selection, deselection, evaluation, replacement, and weeding; develop tools and guidance for liaison librarians.
  • Analyze collection data (usage, age, interlibrary loan, and user requests) to identify strengths, gaps, and alignment with curriculum; develop reports to inform planning, budgeting, and accreditation.
  • Chair the Collection Management Committee, coordinating resource evaluation and collaborative decision-making.
  • Monitor subject fund allocations and expenditures; prepare budget and statistical reports with recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain collection policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Collaborate with Hunt Library colleagues on shared collection strategies.
  • Manage workflows for donated materials and serve as a point of contact for donors.
  • Plan and manage physical collection space, including shelving and optimization.
  • Serve as subject liaison to assigned departments, selecting and evaluating resources to support curriculum.
  • Maintain expertise in STEM resources and trends in academic library collection management.
Research Consultation
  • Provide research consultations and reference services (in person and online), including evening hours.
  • Advise students, faculty, and staff on research strategies, information evaluation, ethical use, and scholarly communication.
  • Support effective use of library collections through consultations and reference services.
  • Stay current with research tools, databases, and emerging technologies.
  • Participate in a community of practice supporting research and undergraduate initiatives.
Teaching and Instructional Development
  • Partner with faculty to integrate information literacy and research skills across the curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver instruction through classes, workshops, tutorials, and course-integrated sessions (in-person and online).
  • Embed library resources into the learning management system.
  • Teach multiple sections of first-year communications courses focused on research skills.
  • Create instructional materials such as guides, tutorials, and learning aids.
  • Apply best practices in pedagogy and adapt to diverse learning styles.
Outreach and Engagement
  • Collaborate across campuses on collection initiatives with Hunt Library staff.
  • Build relationships with faculty and students to identify current and future collection needs.
  • Promote library resources through outreach, marketing, and programming.
  • Serve on library and university committees, including the Prescott Campus Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee.
  • Represent the university through professional contributions, conferences, and community engagement.
  • Participate in professional development and scholarly activities.

Qualifications
Required Education and Qualifications:
  • Work or internship experience in an academic library; new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, collection development in an academic library environment
  • Ability to apply current collection management practices to acquire and manage resources in support of the university curriculum
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, research assistance and information literacy instruction
  • Strong public speaking skills, with the ability to organize and present information to diverse audiences, particularly on information literacy and critical thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, with experience in a Library Services Platform (LSP), online searching, database navigation, and information-seeking behaviors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation, with a commitment to building positive relationships and partnerships within and beyond the library
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish professional, collegial relationships
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment, contribute ideas, and demonstrate innovation and creativity in advancing library services
