Torch Technologies is seeking a Junior System Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) integration and testing. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical defense systems and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Junior System Engineer will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of systems engineering, requirements management, configuration management, and data management, contributing to the overall quality, schedule, and cost-effectiveness of our projects. This position will support Data Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Requirements Modeling, and Configuration Management activities used by the Army and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS) weapon programs to develop, test, and integrate their weapon systems, and to verify their capabilities in the MDA M&S and ground test programs. Daily participation on a team that develops and implements integration processes

As a System Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

The Junior System Engineer supports the MDA/DES-I HWIL Integration team by assisting in MDA/DES-P systems engineering, requirements management, configuration management, and data management activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Requirements & ICD Management:Updating, maintaining, and reviewing requirements documentation (ICDs, IDDs, ERB, MASC-F).
  • Configuration & Data Control:Supporting Working Groups, Configuration, Control and Review board meetings, managing actions, data, and maintaining documentation.
  • Event & Meeting Support:Attending and supporting FQT events and participating in various program meetings.
  • CDRL Review and Comments: Provide administrative, critical, and substantive comments with justification and recommend changes to coordinate resolution.
  • Integration & Testing:Assisting with HWIL system integration, test execution, and anomaly identification.
  • Tool Support & Analysis:Supporting data analysis tools, and tracking JIRA observations.
  • Process Improvement:Contributing to Agile/VSM implementation and identifying process improvements.
  • General Program Support:Providing support to various teams (Electronic Integration Verification Assessment (EVIA), Integration & Engineering (I&E), Test Case Data Production (TCDP), Analysis) and customers as needed.

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintainDoD Secret clearance is required to start.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and processes.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Technical Writing
  • Knowledge of Configuration management, requirements development/management, records management and software engineer
  • Ability to obtain and maintainDoD Secret clearance is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with missile defense systems or similar complex systems.
  • Familiarity with HWIL testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile, VSM principles and SAFe Lean-Agile knowledge
  • Familiarity with Data visualization and Data analytic tools to evaluate data (Power Apps and Power Automate, JIRA and Confluence.
  • Requirements modeling (MBSE) and associated industry standard tool sets (SysML, Rhapsody, DOORS, Magic Draw, Cameo, Enterprise Architect etc.).
  • Software development experience.
