What you'll be challenged to do: During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing design services for a wide variety of projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship by experienced engineers and professionals with your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full-time employees. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Participating in bridge design assignments involving contract plans preparation and specifications, design calculations, calculation of quantities and development of cost estimates.
- Assist in performing bridge and tunnel inspection assignments as an inspection team member while documenting inspection findings and preparing inspection reports throughout MA and the US.
- Assist in performing load rating analyses and preparation of load rating reports.
- Office support for construction support services.
- Reviewing shop drawing submittals. Organize submittals and address questions from contractors during the construction phase of projects.
- Assist or participate in the preparation of business proposals.
Education | Experience:
What you'll bring to our firm:
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
- Demonstrated interest in bridge engineering through prior internships or applied academic coursework.
- Basic understanding of bridge design principles.
- Familiarity with CADD software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
What we prefer you bring:
- Analytical skills.
- Anticipated graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Attention to detail.
- The preferred candidate will have a strong preference and desire for structural/bridge engineering, a working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and a working knowledge of design drawings.
- Physically capable of performing field work including working at heights, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
- Valid Driver's License.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $20.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
