DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will maintain, repair, and monitor electrical and plumbing systems at the VA Outreach Center. Your duties will include preparing and painting surfaces, maintaining and repairing sinks and other bathroom fixtures, and installing and soldering pipes. You will also perform general carpentry work which may involve standard office requests such as floor repair. You can expect to install and replace electric circuits, perform scheduled maintenance on electrical and plumbing systems, and troubleshoot and repair those systems. As a repairman, you will operate and maintain electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, groundskeeping, and custodial tools and equipment. Additionally, you will move furniture for cleaning duties and participate in groundskeeping and snow removal duties. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must maintain a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
- Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steamfitting/pipefitting, refrigeration/HVAC, painting, roofing/tinsmith, drywall/plasterer, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)
- Experience in commercial carpentry
- Experience working in the plumbing trade
- Experience working in the electrical trade field
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems
- Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears and 3-phase panels
- Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats and instantaneous water heaters
- Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings
- Experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
