Principal Associate, Cyber Risk & Analysis

The Cyber Third Party Risk Reduction (CTPRR) program defines the framework for the management of information security risks with third party engagements, supports contracting, conducts assessments, and ongoing finding remediation of third parties supporting Capital One. The associate in this role will partner with all areas within the program to gain a deep understanding of all related processes, current metrics utilized by each, and overall program reporting. Throughout this process, the associate will look for opportunities to utilize program data to help drive improvements to the process, contract and assessment content, and enhancements to metrics and reporting. This role will keep up with industry trends and best practices to bring recommendations to all functions within the program. This role will also be the initial point of contact for all external requests of the program (e.g., Internal Audit, Regulatory Requests) and will coordinate the gathering or requested materials and drafting of initial responses, if needed.

You will:

  • Partner with all functions within CTPRR to gain a deep understanding of existing processes

  • Partner with broader Cyber (information security) functions and other Capital One stakeholders for input on changes

  • Work closely with the Cyber Audit and Exam function to develop and maintain interaction model

  • Gather documentation from request for Internal Audit, regulatory requests, and other external teams

  • Draft responses for external requests that clearly describe details on the items being provided

  • Provide recommendations for enhancements to existing processes and program content

  • Keep current with industry trends and best practices through participation in external organizations

  • Lead efforts to address any issues identified through external reviews of the program

Responsibilities may also include:

  • Participate or lead ad hoc requests of the program

  • Participate with broader program enhancements and ongoing development activity

  • Willing to jump in to support any of the program functions when needs arise

The associate should be able to:

  • Be well organized and able to manage multiple requests

  • Demonstrate strong ability to analyze information and data and leverage to support recommendations

  • Work in collaboration across multiple teams while maintaining business relationships

  • Develop and communicate quality recommendations to the program

  • Demonstrate strong subject matter expertise and sound judgment to align appropriate risk level

  • Work with diverse contacts throughout Capital One

  • Communicate technical issues to non-technical people

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and conceptual thinking abilities

  • Demonstrate capacity to think broadly but go deep into subject matter when needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 4 years of experience in Information Security conducting Risk Assessments

  • At least 3 years of experience in Information Security managing third party vendors

  • At least 3 years of experience communicating and presenting to senior level management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in Information Security conducting Risk Assessments

  • 5+ years of experience in Information Security managing third party vendors

  • 5+ years of experience communicating and presenting to senior level management

  • 3+ years of experience at a Financial Institution

  • 2+ years of experience in PCI DSS, NIST, ISO, Physical Security, or IT Operations Management

  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • Security+, CISSP, SANS GIAC, CISA, CISM or CCSP certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $127,500 - $145,500 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis Richmond, VA: $115,900 - $132,200 for Prin Assoc, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
