Overview
Coach/mentor child care professionals and coordinate activities relating to recruitment, retention and quality improvement of child care environments. Oversee the integration of national best practices as defined by the Utah Office of Child Care into all technical assistance and child care provider coaching activities. Administer a child development assessment tool. This position requires travel throughout Eastern Utah and Salt Lake City on a regular basis. May be required to travel through all of Utah and do training out of state.

Responsibilities
  • Must be highly diplomatic and have excellent communication skills. Be able to make suggestions and give appropriate information based on Utah Licensing regulations as well as nationally recognized best practices for child care professionals.
  • Meet with licensed child care professionals to evaluate their program and help them set and attain goals that would help improve the quality of their program.
  • Administer a child development assessment tool. Training for reliability on this tool may require out of state travel. Also may be required to travel throughout Utah to administer this tool.
  • Provide continued support of child care professionals after completion of the coaching program.
  • Participate and in annual conference implementation, attend and possibly present at conference.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimal Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. (per Utah Office of Child Care)
  • Ability to establish a working relationship with child care professionals.
  • Ability to perform on-site assessments and to assist the child care professional in developing goals to improve the quality of their child care program.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Effective written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work cooperatively with fellow staff members.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Two years of paid professional experience working directly with children.
  • Six months' experience of direct responsibility for professional development of adults and demonstrated knowledge of adult learning and training
